Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund Endorses Luis Lopez for Calif. State Assembly

Gary Carnivele November 3, 2017

Luis Lopez

Today the campaign of Luis Lopez for Assembly announces the endorsement of The Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund. The Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund works to change the face and voice of America’s politics and achieve equality for LGBT Americans by increasing the number of openly LGBT elected officials at all levels of government.

The endorsement recognizes Lopez’ sustained and courageous leadership for civil rights and elimination of stigma and harassment, including transgender people, immigrants, DACA participants, and asylum seekers fleeing violence who have been targeted with exclusions by the Trump Administration.
“Victory Fund is thrilled to endorse Luis López for Assembly,” said Victory Fund President & CEO Aisha C. Moodie-Mills. “Luis’ commitment to smart public policy that addresses the real concerns of constituents makes him the best candidate for Assembly. When he wins in December, Luis will become a vital LGBT voice in the state legislature.”

The 51st Assembly District includes the Eastside communities of Echo Park, El Sereno, Eagle Rock, Highland Park, Hillside Village, Mount Washington, Glassell Park, Cypress Park, Elysian Valley, Angeleno Heights, Lincoln Heights, Montecito Heights, Silver Lake, Chinatown, Solano Canyon, Historic Filipinotown, City Terrace, Unincorporated East L.A., Garvanza, University Hills, Hermon, and Monterey Hills.
